Philippe de Jong

Philippe, IP partner in the firm, specialises in intellectual property law, with a particular focus on patents, plant variety rights and parallel import issues.

Philippe also has extensive experience in regulatory matters concerning the life sciences and agri-food industries. Other areas of practice include medical law, media law and fair trade practices in a variety of sectors. Philippe regularly lectures at conferences and seminars. He has also published articles in various leading legal journals relating to his area of expertise. Philippe worked as a consultant for the EU Plant Variety Office and is also an active member of the European Seed Association (ESA), the European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLAW), the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and the International Association of Breeders of Asexually Reproducing Fruit and Ornamental Varieties (CIOPORA). He is also included in the List of Neutrals at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, where he focuses mainly on green biotech issues. Philippe holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property for the University College (2002) and has gained a degree in Law from the University of Antwerp (Lic. Jur., 2001). He is a member of the Brussels bar since 2002. He is fluent in English, Dutch and French.
