Erik is part of Simonsen Vogt Wiig’s top ranked EU and competition law team (“tier 1” in European Legal 500). His expertise covers merger clearance risk assessments, merger filings and dialogue vis-à-vis the Norwegian Competition Authority and the European Commission under the merger control rules.
He has assisted in several large mergers and acquisitions; e.g. Telia/Get, St1/SFRM, TeliaSonera/Tele2, Egmont/TV 2 and Altor/Bain/Cermaq. Erik also has significant experience in compliance, cartel and dominance matters, and regularly advices on joint ventures, distribution agreeements, price/rebate structures, tying/bundling etc.
His expertise also covers EU/EEA regulatory matters, State aid and public procurement, where he has been involved as legal counsel in several cases before the Norwegian courts, complaint cases before the EFTA Surveillance Authority in Brussels and preliminary reference cases to the EFTA Court in Luxembourg; e.g. Case E-16/16 (Fosen Linjen I) and Case E-1/16 (Synnøve Finden).
In the field of State aid, he is particularly experienced on the scope and limitations for granting public aid to services of general economic interest.
Erik has adviced in some of the largest public procurements in recent years, including the procurement of a new electronic patient journal system (EPJ/PAS) and in procurements of search and rescue helicopters.
